An excuse
I pick pocketed
out of mid air
effectively white washing
the reason I don't care--
if you need an excuse
just ask...
I've got plenty to spare.
I have one that gives grounds
for separate beds.
I've got one that covers
the devastation left
in the wake of my hate.
I've a few that explain
why I haven't left
and one for
why I drive too fast
and why I have trouble
remembering.
I have lots for why
these days I anger
so quickly
and one for why I prefer
my touch over his
well actually that is a
duplicate (see separate beds above)
I even have a great one
that covers a multitude
of attitudes.

But my life and
my happiness
on my shoulders sit and
in my ribs I feel a prodding
a decision day is coming
and I can't find an excuse
for this frown
that fits it just yet
I could say I am not ready
and put it off
until tomorrow
but I have used that one over
too many tomorrows already.
I could call in sick
and hide under the covers
but my sick leave sits at
zero point zero.
Medical reasons abound
if I've the money to keep
on making appointments
but deep in my heart
for this frown
I know no excuse
that's even half worthy.
An excuse is ever
handy and waiting, but
my decision day is coming
and this time I hope
I find my pockets empty.

Yee-HA!!!! My stitches may not be purty, but you KNOW I'm gonna sew your pockets shut... just in case that hope starts waffling, dontcha? *G* If this didn't hurt so much, I'd love it... as it is, I can only applaud an excellent work... and the incredible lady who wrote it. *S*
