Just read Poet Devine's cute poem, The Third Sock. Our minds must have been on the same wave length! I just wrote this one.

My mother's sorting socks today
and pretty soon, I hear her say:
"My son, you are a lucky boy,
you have nice clothes and every toy
a kid could ever want and yet,
you simply won't or just forget
to put your socks out two by two.
What on earth am I to do?
Then she held up angrily
three lone socks for me to see.
"Are they underneath your bed?"
"I don't think so, " then I said.
"I just cleaned my room, you know,
but I tell you what, I'll go
and hunt all over till I find
socks of like or similar kind."
And then I did just that, but there
were no stray socks hid anywhere.
I went and looked at the machine
that's supposed to get them clean
and it had the smuggest look.
In my heart, I know it took
all my socks and with a smile,
knowing in a little while,
I'm the one who'd get the blame,
It still ate them just the same!

If Meadowmuse reads this, please tell me what you think!

This is really funny. And oh so true. I sometimes wonder where in the world my laundry disappears to.

This is really funny and maybe the answer to all of the lost socks. Joyce

Poet deVine: Sorry! From now on I'll check your poems for subject matter before I post my own. It was probably just a crossed wire somewhere!!
