Cocooned
Virginia Salter

sky is crying
grass is lying
in its wait of gentle spring

drinking in the sustenance
beneath the lilt
of birds in sing

there is a grayness
all around
wrapping up the morn

as if the world is
cocooned in
silken layers of sweet adorn

yet just outside
the tiers of silk
old Sol beams its heav’nly light

when the drinking
of earth is done
floral array shall stay the night

This gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling on this Sunday morning! Lines I like best are:

"drinking in the sustenance
beneath the lilt
of birds in sing"

"as if the world is
cocooned in
silken layers of sweet adorn"

Virginia this is lovely and well written
you have employed some unique poetic phrases and imagery in this piece
And also a clever rhyme pattern which added to its pleasures
well done poetess

We wish ourselves beautiful,
we cry in the night.
Its not the love you fear ...
its the fall from the height.

Yes, it is gray and raining today, but I believe that between your poetic words and good ol' Sol, spring shall arrive on schedule.

"I am not now that which I have been."
