Late at night in drawer of sock Three knee-highs lay together Last in line to be tried on in lieu of colder weather. Two knee-highs of forest green lay snuggled heel to heel The third knee-high, bright and blue felt a pain he couldn’t reveal Bereft of his blue brother sock he gazed at the green couple there And felt as though out of sync, since he wasn’t quite a pair. Sighing now, he wished that he would find his mate of blue Thus it is in world of sock tis the same for me and you. |

So cute, but the analogy you used was terrific, and I am still looking for my blue sock! Great work. |

In this very clever analogy, I must wonder that you might be looking at my failed attempt to match the laundry. Really good poem. Enjoyed muchly. "I am not now that which I have been." |

This is a very nice analogy, one we can all identify with. Maybe he could be happy with a different color though? We shouldn't limit our search for a match, should we? To love another person is to see the face of God. |

Thank you all for your kind words. This poem was written after spending the day with my son and his wife. I was the blue sock.... |

aw...sharon...hugs for you...and think of it this way...you could be a blue sock paired with a red sock! and all this talk of socks reminds me...I've got a basketful of unmatched socks...sigh...what's the deal? But in truth...I keep them..because when I least expect it? I sometimes find the mates! and another hug... don't be blue! |

I love how this is written how the sock is feeling exactly what i am! What can i say someday when you least expect it the blue sock will somehow appear in the wash!

Very creative writing, I really enjoyed the analogy and could relate quite well. LOL Be blessed! Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |

well, you know deVine. . . blue goes with a lot of others colors. . . and who says that you need another blue sock??? Heck, you could have one blue and one red, or one blue and one gray. . . and yes, I know that blue and blue match best. . . but what about one light blue and one dark blue???? lol. . . looks like I'm on a roll. . . . . . this is a great poem. . . I'm always amazed at the creative analogies that you put in your writing. . . ------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |
