The Story Of Patrick's DayNow the story goes that young Patrick Was born on the 17th of March. His Mother looked at both his feet, And cried out, “his feet don’t have an arch!” “How will he ever be able to do a jig? With flat feet my poor, wee son. Now on every St. Patrick’s Day, He’ll miss out on all the jigging fun!” As years went by Patrick grew, To be quite a handsome man, As a matter of fact he was, The most handsome lad in the clan. But every St. Patrick’s Day, He’d hide amongst the shamrocks green, While others did the Irish jig, Patrick was just no where to be seen. He would take off his buckled shoes, And stare at those big, flat feet, Oh how he wished he could do a jig, Up and down Killarney’s street. One day he’d had enough of this, And stomped down to the town square, Jumped up on the stage, flat feet and all, He was going to jig, he didn’t care! He started doing a real fancy jig, And much to his surprise, He was jigging with the best of them, Wel, he couldn’t believe his eyes! The people cheered for Patrick, And said, “we’ll call this Patrick’s day!” Okay...so I just kissed the blarney stone, To send this silly, jigging greeting your way. Happy St. Patrick’s Day Everyone! The four leaves of the four-leaf clover represent, hope, love, faith and luck - Hope you look over one soon! ~*~A poet is someone who reads more than they write ~*~ [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 03-17-2001).] |

Sunshine, Kethrey, and Marge, I see you are pretty good "jiggers", but somehow I think RiverDance will be going on without us! he he Denise: You don't have to be Irish you know to join in...as a matter of fact there are two types of people in the world...the Irish, and those that wish to be! Jelly: You are the King of Rhymes, come on...put on those tap shoes, let's have one today - where is my St. Paddy's Day poem? Elizabeth: And the top of the morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and yours too! Thanks All, this was another product of my insomnia! I love your creativeness, Sharon. This was really great, it cheered me up, not that I'm willing to do any jigs but I might just lift a glass to ya. You are so REAL and I love you. Kate Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |

Happy Belated St. Patrick's to you, Mysteria! This was adorable, and it brought me a shimmering smile from ear to ear! Sorry I'm late, the last of the relatives left this morning. So, this gives me two reasons to celebrate ~*~ smiling mischieviously~*~ This certainly was a spirit booster, and I'm so happy I finally got the chance to stop by here and check it out. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Sunday to you, my sweet friend! Hugs and smiles sent your way, Martha |
