I don't need or want love to complete me The center of me The core that is my soul is a circle that can stand alone Whole without empty spaces I need to be filled by another The love you give me is the beautiful colors painted over my center Reflected in the sparkle within my eyes The gentle warmth my laughter dances upon It is a gift Beautiful in it's purity Not a need that I demand from you And that's why love is free Why we feel it in the wind Why we stand in awe of how it captures all the colors of the sun Love is not desparation being chained in the darkness of sadness and need I cannot complete you But I can love you Completely "When people show you who they are, believe them" ~Maya Angelou~ |

I cannot complete you But I can love you Completely If I decide to grow up, can I be you? Love your new sig...it is one of my favorite quotes...one I constantly try to remind myself is true. |

Wow...that last stanza is truely a classic...loved it! Woven in your poem is also the notion that in order to love completely, one needs to be a complete person...maybe too in order to be a complete person, one needs to love completely... Jellybean King |

Enjoyed reading your poem...it seems so easy to fall into the desperation category where love is concerned...like if your hadn't eaten for three days you would be desperate for some food...not necessarily demanding it but trying every possible way to get some...James |

quote: this is all that anyone should ask of love. . . or of those that would love them. . . wonderful my friend. . . from the heart. . . and honest. . . --------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

A very postive reflection on what love is. I really enjoyed the independent edge to this too. Kate Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. |

This is so filled with wonderful wisdom. So sweet and sometimes bitter. I need to understand that. Loving as not a need. I think you called it a gift. Makes sense to me. Wishing I could write it like you. *sigh* I don't think I am there yet. But am gonna keep trying. Best Wishes Rosemary [This message has been edited by Raindrops (edited 03-18-2001).] |

So true, we know that healthy, real Love inspires the self to be just that. You write it very very well. And the more you are centered the more dreams shall come into physical being. I used to tell one person so many things you touch on. That value is determined from within. And so much more. Still The circle of the self needs be forged in pure HeavenStone. From there entire worlds appear. An excellent piece. And of course My compliments "Be your own hero. Save your interior landscape. As in all mythos the blight can be defeated and the land turned back to freedom and fertility. [This message has been edited by ATelamon (edited 03-18-2001).] |
