A thousand miles still lie ahead, a million lie behind- A lot of “almost made its” are going through my mind. Sleep is hard to come by, especially when you hurt- You leave much more than entry fees in that arena dirt. Some people call it madness, I used to call it life- This kind of living costs you, your home, your kids, your wife- Another fleabag motel room, another three day show... It’s worse than an addiction, the sport called Rodeo. Driving down the highway, going down the road- I rode last night in Austin, tonight I may get throwed. I guess it’s gotten in my blood, with danger I must flirt- I’ll test my talent one more time in that arena dirt. |

Yanno, GS... you paint such a vivid picture with your words I can smell the dust, sweat, and manure... and see the cowboy picking himself up and waving to the crowd... with only the slump of shoulders revealing his disappointment... and a limp the only indication that more than pride was hurt. I really like your work! |

Gunslinger, I can't make myself get any closer to the rodeo than the tv set! I just hate to see those young men get on a bull! The bucking horses I can handle, but not the bulls. I am sure I am heard a long way by my screams in front of the tv. It has to be such a hard life and these guys have to love it to take such abuse. You really painted a picture! Great work. ME |

This is great! You really give one a feel for what it must be like following the rodeos. Betty Lou Hebert |
