Listening to every heart

Winter's Leave

the wind is howling on the plains
readying to welcome spring again
but first we need to go past dreary
leave winter lone, weak and weary

howl o wind, and set to shriek
winsome, lonesome days so bleak
blow and bellow and rage so on
one looks forward to morning's dawn

I shall miss the light of crystal
in the bright of winter's ice
but I shall revel in the systole
of pure nature being enticed

to break and beckon and be free
to lift, then hearten, perhaps weaken me
to think that spring has come again
and leave imaginings to a when

could blue of bird song's once on high
could red of wing lift to the sky
would sun bring on a gleam of green
and cloud in sky bring forth a dream

would daisy white wait to be plucked
and snow on mountain then be sucked
by bee or bird, or butterfly bright
all later scenes blessed by star's night

would come but one to share the sight
when one is one, blessed by sun's light
to share the rare, this gracious gleam
to gain the give, in lovesome's dream

"to gain the give"

Oh I like that so very much

spring rushes in as winter
beguiles its own name
the circle of life the
seasons proclaim always

"Be your own hero. Save your interior landscape. As in all mythos the blight can be defeated and the land turned back to freedom and fertility.

What a wonderful way to write it Karilea...so many well composed lines to carry the mood across to the reader.........

"could blue of bird song's once on high
could red of wing lift to the sky
would sun bring on a gleam of green
and cloud in sky bring forth a dream

would daisy white wait to be plucked
and snow on mountain then be sucked
by bee or bird, or butterfly bright
all later scenes blessed by star's night"

captivating!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
