Someone, Anyone By: Noah Eaton 3/15/01 Can someone, anyone please tell me Why our world is so full of misery Nature being raped over and over and over again Oil fields polluting the oceans until all resources come to an end Can someone, anyone please tell me Why all love seems so bittersweet Everyone going at any length to make love to the first person they lay eyes upon Using on-line dating services, only to see broken hearts sprout up everywhere, all faith being gone While there be remnants of purity scattered about this small world The media is like the emperor of a global feudal age, adulterating young boys and girls True happiness and love out of youths reach all the time, all so close but always inching away An archetype of Tantalus playing harm on everyone, deceiving our eyes every single day Can someone, anyone please explain How this world has come to be, bleeding with pain? A sweet world where lovers once serenaded each other, spoke sweet words, held each others hands Is now filled with such sexual exploitation, strangers breaking each others hearts after one night stands Does someone, anybody know How the times keep a’ changing so fast, a world once filled with friends now filled with foes A world challenged in such social Darwinism, a monopoly game of madness bringing many down A world where once smiles overcame all, now replaced by countless frowns How ironic how it feels to live in a world burning in the greenhouse effect Yet I feel like I’m freezing, using the hope I have left to keep me high from collapse A world where we can’t breathe nearly as easily, rainforests crumbling away, killing our oxygen Desertification destroying our prairies and woodlands, a phase that never finishes Can someone, anyone please tell me Why we live in a world filled with millions of homeless children, dying of sickness all lonely Crawling about through the lightning storms and blizzards on their hands and knees Starving to death, struggling to find even a mere loaf of bread, hearts beneath beating empty How many times have you seen someone, anyone hurt someone else with desire? From once we saw flower power flourish about, many possessing true love singing around the bonfires Now all that power has withered, imperialism of the evil tongue affecting the world in a whole Many seeking pleasure by making others feel bad, hurting others and leaving their spirits low Now we are all alone This is our last chance to save the future We are all alone We need a solution, not an answer We must take this chance We must take this chance We must take this chance While this world is here to last Can someone, anyone please tell me How such a happy place has become so much more depressing A world where we still see light overcome fate Can be such a sad, sad place Please don’t change Please don’t lose your pride Keep afloat Don’t let the darkness bring you down… Somebody, anybody, can’t you hear the world cry? Please, please, do something Someone, anyone, can’t you see the world dying? Do something, anything… We together can still save this fallen paradise While there is still time… |

It is because, we've lost the sacred in our knowing being naked and the shame of a fig leaf foretold our thoughts of honest grief... Simply put, it is because, we cannot change the things "that was" Simply put, where our thoughts dwell? Directs us each to simple hell. I loved your poem, and found it inspirational, obviously... Thank you. |

Dear Mistletoe Angel. Yes, there are bad things going on around the world and we must do what we can, but if each of us reaches out to as many as we can each day, things will get better. I remember the old Sunday school song, "Brighten the Corner Where You Are." I think we are doing that a little right here on this forum. I see poems from everywhere. Thanks for your concern. Joyce |

the author of "If it feels good, do it." the author of "pleasure seeking" the Prince of Darkness, tainting the meaning of love...carving it down into one erroneous meaning, one erotic meaning when love has many facets and agape the greatest of assets being so much an unreachable star, when alone...attainable only with the help of the Agape King Himself glad I came in and read this one Noah, even though depressing, one cannot begin to defeat the enemy when one does not recognize the enemy |
