Someone Said Virginia Salter Someone said, ”Just go to bed!” I wonder who it was. Could it have been someone real close whose eyes are filled with fuzz? Could it have been that someone that sees me in the mirror that sleeps beside the empty place and sheds a simple tear? To bed instead of dancing or standing on her head to bed to find a dream to dream where vision’s duly fed. At end of day and end of play the pillow waits in fluff to carry one upon a stream of pixie dust and stuff. Somewhere beyond the land of Nod where whippoorwills sing songs and jellyfish sit in a dish and dragonflies are strong. Come with me across the sea where damsels smile and plead and honey bees, in sycamore trees provide us well with mead. Where nonsense pays the greatest price for picnics neath the sun and butterflies in paradise flit and fly for fun. © July 16, 2000 |
