The Lonely Wind As we walked arm in arm from the car to your door, the cold wind bit at our backs with a howling fury. Stepping into your softly lit living room, you dropped your keys and purse on a magazine ladened coffee table and turned to me. Your cheeks were still glowing red from the cold. The light from a small tiffany lamp across the room delicately cast an aura about your golden hair. I put my hands on your hips and we shared a warming kiss. As if to catch its breath, the wind stopped hissing through the pines allowing me to thoroughly enjoy the music of your gentle breathing. Looking into your eyes I nervously said, "Let’s make love." You quickly glanced down at my shirt pocket and began diligently picking at an imaginary loose thread. A corner of your mouth turned up ever so slightly, giving you a shy little girl look. In the seemingly endless silence, my heart sank as you turned and walked away from me. The lonely wind jealously beat at the door while I watched you pull the tassel to the lamp. "HEY, DON'T THROW THAT AWAY, I MIGHT NEED IT SOMEDAY!!!" Packratmike |

This is exquisite. You have truly captured the essence of a woman. I applaud! After years of searching, I have found I am nothing more, nothing less...I am in truth Just A Woman after all. |

PackRatMike~ This is quite a delicately lovely piece of writing. 'As if to catch its breath, the wind stopped hissing through the pines allowing me to thoroughly enjoy the music of your gentle breathing.' 'as you turned and walked away from me. The lonely wind jealously beat at the door' WOWSER lines ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

I just loved the way this piece takes the reader through loops...out of the cold....into the warm room....a kiss...rejection...jubilation. Well written and executed!! Jellybean King |
