While walking with my eyes open and being carressed first by Jan Karon's "A Light in the Window" and "Tuesday's With Morie" by Mitch Abalom, this poem found its culmination.

Did You Take the Time?

Did you notice?
Did you take the time to see?
The gleaming white trunks and limbs
of the weeping birches,
with their umber and black twigs draped toward the earth

and the sycamore
with its urchin-like balls, suspended from ornament strings,
its leaves, a hundred or more,
that cling by lisle threads to their last moments of life?

The umber trunk, limbs and branches
of the weeping-willow
dressed in golden twigs that glisten in the sun
drape from its branches
with no more leaves to cry?

The locusts, robin-filled,
with trunks that are scored, as with rivulets,
in their bark-coated skins
their fern-like projections with bony-fingered twigs
in a mime-display of joy?

Did you take the time
on that sunlit January day?

Yes....
This is a wonderful poem, VAS, and as a nature lover I applaud you!! I love the trees, and even though they are covered in ice this time of year, up here, I am always awaiting Spring when they come to life again, like old friends coming to visit!!

I'm thrilled if touched you with even but a tiny fraction of the beauty I enjoyed today and yesterday on my walks, and hopefully much more than that.
