The Shores of Alone

Last night I laid in bed
and held forth dreams so grandiose
even my mother would be proud.
Such possibilites arose from the velvet shadows
as I stared at the single glow in the dark star
placed on my ceiling for comfort.
The cat came over for some attention,
(his terms of course)
walked over my body and settled around my neck
purring, and I felt his love,
until a sudden creak from the wind startled him
and he leapt up, pushing off my chest, innocent claw marks left behind.
Suddenly I felt bereft,
as though the dreams ran away with the cat
into a dusty corner under the bed
where they will remain, until I slide on my belly to reach, pull them out, and
get bitten for my trouble.
While the single star still glows at me
with an ironic shine.

This is great, Catalinamoon. It reminds me of my cat. I'm glad he's declawed now!

I love these lines...

"Suddenly I felt bereft,
as though the dreams ran away with the cat
into a dusty corner under the bed
where they will remain, until I slide on my belly to reach, pull them out, and
get bitten for my trouble."

Catalina,
Superbly written, and I love your imagery of the dreams under the bed.  The dreams are always there, just waiting to be captured. Keep them alive....
