To Give a Dream (renamed, rewritten and reposted) He said he could dream couldn’t he? After the days of cheap wine and darned socks, feeling the bite of snow from the piece of life that flew and hit him and made forever close, at least he could still dream. (Dreams are not earthbound, no gravity cements them, but how to keep them safe from disconnect, shine their impossible perfection? I have thrown them away then found them again, hidden in the wooden planks of the board-walk dancing in a gown of gossamer. A dream is as diaphanous as breath, yet as sure that it can build a castle stone by stone of river rock as it can whistle from a puckered five year old.) I could see he wanted me to give him something, to reach him across the chasm he had built and give his wrinkled waiting, answer. But to give a dream is not possible without taking away what hope is and so I just said, yes, you can dream. |

I guess it takes two dreams connecting to become reality ... till then ... why destroy the hope This is very thought provoking and well written Martie Thanks |

Martie~ 'I have thrown them away then found them again, hidden in the wooden planks of the board-walk dancing in a gown of gossamer.' Me too ... only I didn't think it as elegantly as you've done. But ... I will now ! Thank you for this little gift - I shall treasure it. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

"But to give a dream is not possible without taking away what hope is and so I just said, yes, you can dream." Oh Martie ... so profoundly beautiful! The lines above are fabulous! To allow someone to dream is indeed allowing them to hope ... a marvelous read! Best wishes, /Kit |

Karilea--After reading your comment I wondered if I was being too obtuse...maybe..but if you keep on reading you can figure it out, and then let me know. Poeminister--I'm glad you enjoyed this...thanks so much for letting me know. Rex Allen--I think it really just takes the dreamer to make a dream come true...and it is the hope that keeps the dream path open. Coco--You are so sweet in your comments...I really appreciate what you say...thank you. Bill--Thanks for the LOVE! Marge--You give gifts all the time, my friend...you are the best at it, ya know. Liz--I would love to see your own little story...hugs to you! Kit--Thank you sweet poet for understanding. Maree--elegant...hmmm, not too sure about that...but you know I appreciate you and your friendship. Balladeer--thank you too, for understanding! |

MARTIE, I'm browsing the back pages and although this remains in my library to date, I couldn't resist reading it rite there in front of me so I did, and I was about to turn to next page but I decided perhaps others would appreciate the opportunity to come across this on front page... You're a great writer sweetie... ~coco~ |

"A dream is as diaphanous as breath, yet as sure that it can build a castle stone by stone of river rock as it can whistle from a puckered five year old." Yes, a dream stands on its on and no matter what happens in life, it remains unchanged, ready to be grasp and not nearly as elusive as one would think. Thank you for this, Martie. *hugs* dear one. |
