My independent nature led To many places and I said That I was glad to be away From the tedium each day Brought about, in my home town. Life there used to get me down. I traveled widely, loved my job And never thought how time would rob Me of the opportunity To see things as they used to be. For by the time that I returned, All my bridges had been burned. Nobody seemed to care that I Had wandered back or wondered why, But suddenly I yearn I find, For treasures that I've left behind. For friendships lost and family, I realize means much to me. I hope it's not too late to dwell In this spot I know so well And be an active, caring part Of those closest to my heart. To savor small town life and strive To keep my heritage alive. BettyLou~ Oh, I like this. Rod McKuen said, "You can go home again, despite your Thomas Wolfe. Never do so on the train, but on the train of thought." I've often taken both ! Most reflective ponder. I like ponders ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Enjoyed your poem very much. My home is where ever I'm at, that way I'm always home. |
