When I saw it I just had to smile
I guess it didn't start out to be funny
But sometimes life goes down that path
When a cloudy day turns out to be sunny

Now being a grown up I tried not to smile
I turned my head so not a soul could see
And even held my breath for a little while
So I wouldn't draw attention to me

He was trying to make a jelly sandwich
No problem it would seem except its his first
Bread, all 12 slices, didn't come close to the dish
Some on the floor, the table, can things get worse

Just two pieces of bread and a determined will
I could see by his face he would work it out
Got an unsharp knife then being careful not to spill
Put jelly on bread, table, floor, hands and mouth

The look of happiness on his face as he took a bite
It didn't matter that more jelly was outside not in
The satisfaction on his face is a wonderful sight
He is happy, I am happy, so I guess we both win

I told him he sure did a great job
He said he could make another one for me
Never in a hundred years his happiness could I rob
So we had jelly from ear to ear and laughed, you see

this is precious ME and you make us all smile with this memory set to rhyme ...
I could picuture the whole scene and hear a certain "lil blonde tornado"chattering away
while determined to do this...
(even if this wasnt wrote about him, thats what it brought to mind)
wonderful writing.

Delightful! You accomplished something I was never able to do...let them 'do' no matter the consequences. Today, I'm a terrible housekeeper, cuz there's hardly ever anyone to see, but when my 30 year-old was little, I hated messes...well, that others made may be more accurate. If I made them, I just cleaned them up. Wow! Did I miss a lot! This was a precious piece that surely must be salted away and retrieved often!

Eagle One- aren't they special memories! And you are welcome to the smiles.

Joyce Johnson- Welcome to Passions! And yes, little such a short time.

Butterflies, my kid, I will send all the "smiles" I can. We have to hang onto the happy memories, right? We have alot of those
if we look! Love and hugs

Janet Marie- not sure if the "tornado" & I went through this or not, but he always has to "do it" his way. Thank you and more smiles back to you.

Kit McCallum- you are very welcome.

VAS- you know, I have more time "to not see" the mess with grand kids. I just plain didn't like a mess before because I knew I had to clean it and I was lazy. Oh, the stories my kids could tell!!

I love this, ME... and it especially makes me smile since I had breakfast with my favorite 2 year old yesterday... and though I really really really DON'T like jelly, I relished every jelly faced kiss that was offered. *S* Great poem!

suthern, I figured the reason I gained weight was because of ALL those jelly kisses. So take care........ lovely aren't they!
