There’s an invisible line Where friendship ends and love begins Did we cross it together? I don’t remember when Did I leave you at the bridge post? Your small fingers slipped through mine Small as diamonds on a sparkling river And precious still Or did you cross first? Because I was scared to look down Afraid of losing my heart In cold dark waters Breaking on jagged rocks below No, we must We must have crossed together Balancing in one another’s arms Holding tight as the bridge swayed Like a dragon snake in flight Your small shape is Swallowed whole Into the shadow of the Greyhound Bus Life packed neatly in a tweed suitcase Barely the size of a birthday cake And you Now one of many Wonder if we ever crossed that bridge Or are still standing there Paralyzed by fear Longing for the warm sun On the other side |

It seems that line is tough to cross with success... too often, only one crosses and forever reaches back yearning. Very sad... well written! |

The line may be invisible, but it's also the hardest line to cross...well done! |

A line that will tug at your heart, and hold it forever if you don't make a decision. Well done as usual. Hey...where is a fairytale for the old lady here? ~*~A poet is someone who reads more than they write ~*~ |

"Longing for the warm sun on the other side" - Excellent description. Nice writing! Have enjoyed your poetry. To hold tomorrow we must first be willing to let go of yesterday. |
