Passions of Youth
Virginia Salter

river shore
sand, grasses
delicious kisses
vibrant caresses
teen libido

indecent proposal
shaky, timid request
more caresses
more verdant request

sand
gravel
grasses, bugs
innocence, fear

liar’s promise ensues
leave me be
next time
next time I’ll show my love
next time
let’s go now
next time. . .

home safe
canceled date. . .
canceled relationship
good choice
fear gone

Thank God I lived through it without too many mishaps. I don't ever want to relive my youth.

The trials and tribulations of youthful love described so well in this charming piece! The short verse length (like stop and go) added a sense of youthful indecision which played beautifully with this theme...all the while keeping the tone light and upbeat. Very appealing combinations!

It makes me think of the movie Splendor in the Grass. Beautifully done!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.
