I look into his deep brown eyes
And it’s as if I am looking into forever
I lose myself in him
Does he even realize it?
Can he see what he means to me
In my eyes of clear blue?

I often wonder if he knows
How I really feel way down
In the depths of my being
Or if my feelings for him
Will ever be reciprocated
To show his true feelings

Perhaps time will tell
Love could blossom
Out of the friendship
We’ve forged through the years
But that will always mean the most to me
Knowing he’s my friend

He seems to be there
Whenever I need him
In times of joy to celebrate
And in times of sorrow
He reaches out to comfort me
With the simplest gesture

I should tell him
What that has meant to me
Just knowing he is there
Offering unending support
Without me asking or telling
That I need him right then

He and I are in tune
With each other
He knows when I need him
When I want to be left alone
When I mean it
And when I don’t

If I am down
He cheers me up
With a look or a joke
Anything to make me smile
Before you know it
We’re laughing about something

He has helped me see the good
In the world around me
And shown me that through helping others
We in turn help ourselves
No obstacle is out of reach
As long as we have each other

I don’t know what the future holds
But I do know he’ll be my friend
Today, tomorrow, always
Through good and bad
When I’m happy or sad
Just as he’s been all along

Such a nice friend, would probably be a great love. Beautifully express!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.

So many kinds of love, and this is the hardest, having a friend you love so much, you wonder if you want to love them as a lover and not a friend. I have been there, and it is a scary place, and sometimes it backfires. I am so glad you love him as you do - don't forget to always tell him, as you only pass this way once! Wonderful poem, I really enjoyed it.

Well, the first few lines asks the question does he know? My guess would be no, as he is a man and they hardly ever seem to. But as I read further on, it sounds like this is one of the rare ones, so maybe he does. What a lovely poem, and a wonderful friendship you have here.

Lone Wolf I loved this poem, To me words to often are not said, and often we just think he will know how we feel, by our eyes, sometimes though those words have to be said.

Before I go to work, I have to say you are a very open and honest person, sure, tell him, most times I approach a lady and say something and she immediately thinks it's a come on....you are probably afraid he'll misinterpret it and most times men want friends too, and yes, sometimes it is possible to have a "friendship" without all the rest. Tell him he's a great friend.
I would but I don't know him

Your words reach out to me. You have such a fine talent for sharing your precious heart and in this one I smiled knowing I was reading your heart beside your words. Great one! Kate
