I want him to miss me ...

I want his insides to ache
from the lack of my touch
I want it to be him that
cries himself to sleep because
of that word...
good-bye

I want his stomach to curl
into knots every time he
hears my name from someone
innocent
Or have his hands shake because
he happened to read my name
in the newspaper

I want his body to crave how
we used to sleep together,
for him to feel the sheets of ice
beneath his body instead of
our heated passion

I want his arms to reach
and find a pillow brings only
fluff against his chest instead
my fingers...
which once inscribed my name
upon his heart

I want him now to feel
those same fingers reaching
through that same chest...
nails digging in and gripping,
making him bleed
the same way he
bled me...

"...I am a river in winter,
quiet in the eyes of most
but deep,
swift and full of life
to one, lucky enough to fall through the ice.

Wow...perfectly stated and well written, thanks for saying what we've all wanted to say at one point in our lives at least.

I'm going to echo dgvarner when I say, 'ouch.'  But, I totally relate to what you are saying here.  Excellently written!

there is something about the way you pull the reader into your words and make them feel what you're writing. it's a gift babe, please don't give it up.
