The following was inspired by a pump-canister I purchased about a year ago in order to spray weed-killer on my parkway. Yet, I'm afraid to use it. I'm afraid I won't get it put together correctly and I'll spray "Round-Up" all over myself or something. So, it sits in the corner gathering dust. Yet, I think it's the epitome of the many promises to reform that I've made over the years. So...here's its message to me. Promises Gnaw Virginia Salter there it stands a reminder of firm determination the only thing firm now is the rigidity with which it gathers dust lurking in the corner standing, staring, idle waiting to serve my ‘latest promise to amend my ways’ telling me all those side thorns that bug you... I’d remove them, if you’d let me yes to serve at your hand removing the chaff from the sweet removing the burrs from your feet yet you go about your day ignoring me while I gather your hopes your hopes of self-improvement, rash promises, resolutions in my canister...and wait © March 6, 2001 |

I can, somewhat, relate. I too would probably fear I'd assemble it wrong and blind myself. Nicely worded...thanks for sharing...Embers Dance with me under the moon. Touch my pale skin. Devour me. Love me. |

I can relate to this poem Vas. It's like everything eles we buy knowing full well that we wont ever put it togther and use it (lol). Though I would be afraid that I would put it together wrong to and sray myself instead of the weeds. Kerri |
