Sweet Tranquillity Lay your head upon the softness of my heart In meadow’s bed where purple heathers grow Of earth’s sweet fragrance we will be a part And breezes of tranquillity will blow Let the quiet whispers touch your ear As sounds of nature fall in your embrace For every fluttering rush of wing you hear Will bring a sweet delight upon your face Rest your eyes in calmness of my own In pools of moving waters seek the dream Let them wrap you in a tenderness unknown With mesmerizing sounds of silky stream Close your eyes to visions of the dark Place your hand in trusting of my keep Lay your head upon the softness of my heart Let its murmur slumber you to sleep Elizabeth Santos |

The sweet smell of spring is brought forth, and rests the soul... so very, very good to see you writing again... be well, Lady Santos... |

Such a beautiful poem Elizabeth. I like the way you used the elements as you moved through the poem. A fantastic read. Kerri |

What a beautiful respite you offer... I like this one very much, Elizabeth... To be such a refuge for someone is gift to both giver and recipient alike... especially if the offer is mutual. *S* |

should anyone ask me - who is one of the best poets in PiP - I would tell them Elizabeth Santos - and 'why'? I would point to this as an example |

Sunshine, Yes , the swet smellof spring is just around the corner, THanks for reading Kerri, I'm glad you enjoyed reading this and thank you for you comments suthern, I like the way you put that! If it is mutuual, then there is a warm haven forever. How wonderful Bill, THank you for your encouragement, but look around you. There are hundreds more talented, but I accept the compliment from a warm poet friend, and I'm glad you liked the poem. Kamla, Thank you Kamla dear. I wish I believed that, but that is not what's important to me, as you know. I thank you for being so supportive, just as a daughter would be. You sweet Kathleen, You will .....write a poem for me? Would you, dear? (Just a thought) serenity. If this is poetic valium, I'll keep them coming! Thanks for the smile Liz |

Very beautiful poem, Elizabeth. I so love the feel and power of this stanza: Close your eyes to visions of the dark Place your hand in trusting of my keep ***Lay your head upon the softness of my heart*** Let its murmur slumber you to sleep |

Just lovely, Elizabeth. Tranquil and comforting thoughts. Lone Wolf Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
