Say love is a rose, say razor or knife Say what you will - to me it's my life Say love is eternal - or fleeting at best I live only for love till I take to my rest I've known love of parents, and sibling as well And on love for my children I always do dwell Love of friends keeps me going in times romance fades When passion withers and cools in the shade How to maintain loving when flame’s gone out Still feel heat from embers without any doubt Ask which fire is worth the stoking Or which fire is only smoking Yes I live for love, times given me reason I've weathered much - in all kinds of seasons Learned the difference 'tween true love and passion I know the good love will remain in fashion Love at first sight, or love at first hearing Can this be true love, can it be enduring Perhaps yet it's time foundations need curing Is it conviction that gives us our steering Minutes or hours, sufficient for knowledge Should have education - must one need college Is it weeks, months or years, to make conviction How do we know when we've made the connection Do fights - or tears mean one’s loves not true Do we walk away then and only rue This wasn't the love that was meant to last Not a love that we should hold onto fast I'd rather fight and kiss and makeup Know the love's solid when we share the cup Avoid the fight doesn't mean good vibrations Fighting fair learned hard, much conversation I know good love, seen solid grayhairs Say were all these lovers ensnared Seen other's too bound by tradition I don't want to end in that condition There's a test of time -when the longing Spoken or not -gives a sense of belonging The comfort level - too high to ignore Passion's wonderful – yet better than implore So speak to me, let your voice caress me Until such time your eyes can undress me For I've found in you a love to match time You're so deep in my heart - I now know sublime Share my dream for future where we two'll be one And show proudly our shining forth in the sun When I'll be yours, the love you've dreamed of United that day, bound securely in love The first duty of love is to listen. ~ Paul Tillich ~ |

Yes......this is beautiful, as you always write, but this one just feels like love, in all it's happiness, and comfortable, and fresh. What a pleasure to read today!! Live...Love...Be grateful for both!! |

I ponder love lately.......and so I really enjoyed your thoughts conveyed in this. Nice one, Wilfred! "One out of four people in this country is mentally imbalanced. Think of your three closest friends - and if they seem okay, then you're the one." |
