She stumbles down the street Looking for a quiet place to cry. She doesn't want to turn another trick tonight, To hear another man scream out someone elses' name. She is Molly...not Sue or Diane or Jenny. No one will want the woman she is, But she doesn't know any other her. She has done this half her life... ...she is seventeen. He stands across the street, In the shadows of the old maple tree She loved to watch change colours in the fall, Watching as they sold all the pieces of their life. She was sick for so long, And it took everything they had Searching for a miracle. And still she died... ...he's forty three. He stands outside the bar Determined not to go in. He had it all, wealth, family, position. He grew up drinking, because he could. Now, he has to Just to face the unspoken expectations, And one more dinner with Mom and Dad. He opens the door... ...he is twenty one. Lines crossed. Lives forever changed. Little deaths unmourned every day. Who am I to judge Someone elses' choice? 'Til I've lived their life 'Til I've felt their pain. Who am I to judge? Who am I to say? [This message has been edited by Paula Finn (edited 03-05-2001).] |

Very powerful words indeed. It is hard to judge another person until you have walked in their shoes. Enjoyed your writing - thank you for sharing. Taffetta |

This is an intense and powerful write Paula. You have touched on so many things here and the ending is so open and so wise!! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

'Lines crossed. Lives forever changed. Little deaths unmourned every day. Who am I to judge Someone elses' choice? 'Til I've lived their life 'Til I've felt their pain. Who am I to judge? Who am I to say?' This is some extremely moving and thought-provoking stuff, Paula...thank you so much for sharing this. Maybe we'd all hesitate to judge if we'd take more time to understand...great write! sp do I believe we'd be better off apart? can I see my world without you in it? baby, not for a single minute... |

Eric...wise? I dont know about that...I just know that not everyone has a real choice in how they live the life they do...and I certainly dont have the right to judge...offer my hand yes...thank you sp...its easy to look at someone and decide their worth on the clothes they wear...or how their hair is cut..or the kind of car they drive...its also easy to miss wonderful people because you didnt look past all that to the person underneath...the heart inside...thank you JLR...LOL well sometimes I get up on my high horse...or my soapbox...I'm glad you liked it...thanks |
