Compromise Or To Be Free

I’ve been true to everyone else but not to me
I’ve obeyed my duty and rejected loves beauty
The sun’s warmth has caressed my pale skin
But until now I’ve not let her warmth within
I’ve lived on the edge of reasons not in light
Held my soul in darkness stayed within night
But I can’t dance forever to a tune that’s mine
I can’t wait forever my heart has its own time
Now it’s time for me to spread my wings of fire
It’s time for me to seek out my hearts desire

I’ve listened to the words of compromise again
But hearts that only make do feel truths pain
You say you’re content because you have me
That we can live forever together contentedly
I know that out there somewhere love waits
It’s there just for me through freedoms’ gates
I don’t want to hurt you to make you feel sad
But I can’t stay here because you will feel bad
I have to grasp my chance to find my loves sun
Now I have my hearts race in which to run

I’ve obeyed the rules of honesty never do I lie
But souls that aren’t free seem to fade and die
I know you think I’ve not tried for long enough
You think I should be content but I say tough
I cannot continue to wait forever that’s too long
Somewhere, sometime love sings my hearts song
I want you to be free to find your own destiny
You deserve to live more than just contentedly
And in giving you the chance to live in light
We can both bid farewell to second bests night

Yes, are we just to be sadly content...or truly blessed with happiness....scratching the surface again are we? The answers will come....

Marsha - I do agree with you, please don't wait forever, forever is a very long time to be unhappy. Very well written, and many words of truth I have read today.

The words you write are so true, my sister..
They cry out the truth that love has to be free....if it is not, then it is not love!
Great ones I've read from your heart today!!

Live...Love...Be grateful for both!!

SweetSweetMarsha~

'Somewhere, sometime love sings my hearts song'

And when you hear it singing -
you will know it is being sung just for you.

I could have written this, though not nearly as well. This is a situation, I truly understand. 'To thine own self be true'...has come suddenly to mind. Be well. I enjoyed this much.
