The Prize

no sounds that I heard
empty promised word
just loneliness' quenching drink
allowing my mind a moment to think
in that thought I was confused
another turn, bruised and used
tied up again in untrue lines
fault is mine, ignored the signs
you look at me, think me weak
I'm clearing my throat, I soon speak
even in dark, I shine too bright for you
you look at me and know it's true
with all the pain you have felt
your heart IS ice, you'll never melt
do not worry about my whispers at night
you lit the flame, then blew out the light
you had the choice, I let you choose
I am the prize and you now lose

I agree with Sven, a gift. I couldn't have said it better!

If you were a prize, must be a game u play.
Cause in my heart, you are the jewel that lays.
Never promised u different 23 years ago.
But if it was a game, you won and now it over.
