He crept silently into the village slyly listening at the doors of every villager’s earthen hut then slipped back into the moors Later, he reappeared there dressed in his best bib and tucker searching for his next quick thrill looking for some love-starved sucker He wooed with heart as false as the smile he wore on his face leaving behind where ever he went hearts broken in shame and disgrace He found her sitting quietly near the stream at the edge of town brushing leaves and bits of grass from the hem of her silken gown He smiled at her cooing softly words that made her melt he told her this was a love of the kind he’d never felt And when he asked for her heart she said she would give it gladly that she would follow him in life that she loved him, most madly After he had what he wanted from her he left town, all lovers spurned they spoke of him after that the ‘rogue of hearts’ was a name he’d earned The maiden quietly retreated never to see the light of day And slowly, ever slowly she faded silently away. I write with the ink of my heart. |

This is a truly sad and poignant tribute to a situation that's all too often true... Well done, encre..;* |

Oh, this was sad. True love should come from the heart of two lovers, not from the rogue of the heart. It should be shared with similar feelings, emotions, and faith. This was an excellent told story, thank you for sharing, my friend! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Wonderfully woven. I would so like to echo Catalinamoon's response if I may. She said it most profoundly in her description of your poem! |

What a shame that so many can say they know him well... Strong, powerful message here,This is superb work... May I keep this one? I think I would like to print it as a daily reminder to be so careful with my heart... Thanks for the wonderful read... ~LL~ The way to love anything is to realize it might be lost. author unknown |
