Mirror, Mirror, (on the wall) |

I wrote this piece for all the people out there who may have low self-esteem about not being good looking...enjoy! Mirror, mirror, on the wall, why am I the ugliest one of all? Why me, why couldn't it be, a heartless soul, who's heart is trapped inside a dark hole?!! I mean, I'm black as tar, skinny as a pole, my face is as bumpy as a rocky road, and I look like, an ugly mole as, I find myself wishing that I could be, as handsome as my big brother Lee who never has a hard time, finding him a lady. Sometimes, I imagine that I'm him instead of me and that I'm with this beautiful girl named, Destiny who eyes would twinkle like the stars, everytime I kissed her but, dreams don't last and when they're over I would cry to myself cause, I missed her as being lonely, only made the night colder. It's sad that my life is like this way as, girls won't even give me the chance, to help my horizons enhance, and give this lonely guy a chance, to experience love and romance, cause everytime, a girl turns me down, I just hold my head down, close my eyes, and walk away so, she won't see me cry as, life is so depressing and so seemingly hopeless, that I wished I knew some hocus pocus so, I can vanish clear out of focus so, I can be rid of my days of being ridiculed, bullied, and being picked on at school, to be rid of the days, when I felt like, comitting suicide, and slashing my wrists off, with a butcher knife but today, when I wanted to die, God began speaking to me, from the above the heavenly skies, and proceeds to tell me that, "my beauty belies, on the outside but, most importantly, the inside and he says, "it doesn't matter who criticize me, scrutinize me, tease me, and call me ugly, cause, in his eyes, I'll always possess beauty." After that talk with God, the tears would dry from my eyes and I would begin to realize, that I do walk under clear blue skies, and as long as I believe, that beauty reflects through me, eventually, a woman will see, past all the ugliness of me, by using her heart and not her eyes, to make me, the love of her life. wow! You sound very handsome to me, you know looks matter little, it's that special touch and kindness that really turns a woman on, well you know what I mean "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee |

Nate, my friend~ I understand the feelings behind a piece of this magnitude ... A poignant message ... 'beauty reflects through me' What a wonderfully confident thought ! And in that reflection ... the beauty of the heart - lights up the face with a smile ! I've NEVER seen a smile that didn't capture others in it's glow ! God's contentment with the person within - is all that matters. I think He likes you ! And I do too ! Keep spreading your messages of wisdom. *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

You know to be flat out honest, I never trust goodlooking people. It's the first thing to turn me off! *grins* "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. Socrates |

"using her heart and not her eyes" ~ exactly! I don't know anyone who hasn't questioned their own physical beauty at one time or another ~ it is a very human thing we do. Your poem shows wisdom and integrity, something so many people have yet to gain. Excellente'! Handsomely done! A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes. |

Nate, I used to work hard to look like I thought was good! Now I look at the pictures from WAY back then and boy was I wrong or I should have worked a whole lot harder! Not even the so called beautiful people like to be around beautiful people. There are alot more like "us" then them anyway! I like your words and there is truth in them. You look handsome to me, but you are too young, darn. ME |
