JUST A TASTE

There's a flower across the room
So beautiful, yet so fragile.
As I look at this flower,
I give her a name; Tastee.

I'm attracted to this flower
Like bees & butterflies to nectar,
As they buzz and flutter from one to another
Just to get a taste.

My Tastee is like an exotic fruit
That makes your mouth water
When you imagine biting into it
And enjoying the juices that emerge from it pulp.

I ease closer to this flower
And discover that she is like a rose.
Her tongue as sharp as the thorns
That grace an uncut stem.

I, like the sailors who heard the mythical sirens
Lured by something so beautiful
Unable to turn away
Because all I wanted was a taste.

Men's downfall, everytime!

Really nice write!

Thanks for your response. My favorite verse is
"I ease closer to this flower"
"And discover that she is like a rose"
"Her tongue as sharp as thorns"
"That grace an uncut stem."
This verse indicates that her physical
beauty did not match what came from her
mouth. It indicates that she only had negative,
degrading things to say to the shy gentleman
who approached her. This verse lets a person
know that beauty is not everything.

Thanks for your response. Beauty is not
always man's downfall. Greed and lust are
man's two biggest downfalls in my book.

Thanks for your response. Men are not
always easy. This poem is actually about
a shy young man who is afraid of rejection
but overcomes his fear only to have it
realized. Ya know, some women think that
they are so beautiful that they do not have
to give a person the time of day. Beauty
is not everything.

Doesnt matter how sweet the nectar...or how lovely the bloom...if the heart within is hard as stone...wonderful flow to this...and a great message as well

Thanks for responding. And your right.
Sticks and stones can break your bones,
but words can break your heart.
