Inspired by a poem by Raphaela titled: Silver Unicorn Upon the Back of Pegasus Virginia Salter upon the back of Pegasus I soar into the deep the deep indigo of universe each knee behind a wing we fly aloft on Comet’s tail as if a shooting star he whinnies at one heaven’s whale as we spin ‘round Jupiter and Mars Saturn’s rings go spinning round we prance on them as in a waltz his golden tail flows miles behind and I ride as in a trance the pigment of the heavens grows purple at its core could be a black hole waiting where I would know no more yet Pegasus, all fantasy is held within his power and sailing to Andromeda shall only take the hour we’ll meet with time’s eternity and dance among the rays of ultraviolet canopies that color well the days we’ll leap the asteroids as tiny pebbles on the beach returning last at home again not needing longer seek © February 23, 2001 |
