Come,
climb a tree
with me.
Let's rake leaves
then hold hands
while we jump
into the pile.
Or spend lazy afternoons
playing by the creek.
Come,
my friend,
let's be children again,
for a little while.

What do you think? I still have a lot to learn about free verse, so teach me what you can.

thanks,
Dee

You free-versed this just fine.

Keep it up !

Thanks Marge, I thought about this topic on the way to work and it seemed a better option than work!

For your first free-verse, this is really nice, images of children on weekends!

I do love this one, it conjures up some delightful images of days long since past. Thank you my friend!

Dee--I haven't climbed a tree in a long time...but the leaf jumping is lots of fun...loved the attitude of this poem!

Glad you liked it Martie. I thought it would be a fun thing to do but could you imagine the looks we would get doing some of that stuff. I think it would be worth it just to see some peoples faces.

Dee, personally I like jumping in puddles, but this poem makes me want to re-visit my childhood. Well done!

Hello Dee
Nice to see another Aussie on here. My name is Sue from Melbourne and I loved your poem. A lovely gentleman named Michael Auguste told me what a wonderful lady you were and that I should read some of your poems, so here I am.  I have only been writing for 3 months and I get so much encouragement from so many wonderful people that it inspires me to do more.  Take care......Sue

Dee...I think this is very nice. I especially like the last line..."..for a little while.." It has a sad reality to it. Bob

Thanks Bob, yeah it is sad that we can only be kids "for a little while" cause I don't want to grow up!
Thanks for reading.
