Pictures of You (slight rewrite of a 6/2000 poem pre PIP) In my mind Pictures of you Poses, candid's Exposures erratic Dark ones, bright ones Memories held static Some camcorder memories Wish I had the tape Of your grace Fluid motion Cannot be replaced You never tried To be sexy Or carnal Your look always chaste An Elf or a Pixie Every smile in its place But for me Born of knowledge Pictures by candlelight Seductive and sensuous Eyes shining bright The pictures before me Laid in memory's rhyme All treasured, each measured With the ruler of time Memory photos Those a camera can't take Your face below me No actress could fake The expression of pleasure Of love unremitting Or you curled in sleep With that smile I treasure My camcorder's mike Turned on in my brain Dimensions are added As my ears strain To hear your love words And the sound that you made At my touch, at our merging In that leafy glade But most of the pictures As most of the time Are of laughter and clowning As we strove to rhyme Two poets in sync Addicted to writing Holding hands as we wrote And fingertip biting Memory pictures Can have taste I discover And the flavor of you Exceeds every other Succulent savor My buds can remember Wine taste, fine vintage Overwhelmed I recover Pictures of you In a soft easy chair Pictures of you Sunlight in your hair Pictures of you With that 'come hither' stare I retain these visions Of satin smooth skin Of the light in your eyes That shines from within Memories sweet Palpable to the taste Memory pictures They'll none go to waste Great souls have wills; feeble ones have only wishes. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ |
