Under Iron MoonAs night arrives too close, too soon, and settles under iron moon I chance to find a comfort near in words, though voice I cannot hear. Aglow before me, soothing rhyme traverses sea and space and time. In rhythmic flood I find the key to turn the tumbling parts of me. To bid me settle in and read away from grief and painful deed, and clothe my beaten, bitter heart in verse's warm and fluid art. For here in rush of ink and pen the healing stream of words begin to melt the layers, frozen through, and urge my will to flow anew. And with expression's sweetened sound, my soulful soaring voice is found. Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
