Silence _________________ For my father you died with no tears singing 'sentimental reasons' with me through your mask. You died looking for me - you said in your mind, to hold my hand and for the first time declare I L O V E Y O U S O N I'm crying. not that I lament the fact we didn't get along, or regret anything I said. but that so far I've let you down. so this one, dad is for you this one last effort this final brave attempt I realise now how you judged things how you never, ever demanded but quietly expected In your patient silence something special from me. if it is true that the world talks toomuch then let us all keep quiet and hear the eloquence of silence - Richard Ntiru |

Isn't it something how we so often feel we fall short of our parents' hopes. Yet, maybe we are making higher expectations than they ever did and they can't say enough to make us believe they're satisfied until we're satisfied with ourselves. Deep feeling poem, here, Mendy. |

thanks all for the kind words and hugs VAS I definately hear you on that - Personally I had created this illusion that nothing I could do would be good enough and that I couldn't live up to my dad's demands on me. I realise now that he never really demanded anything and that I was puting the demands on myself (nothing wrong with that unless you blame someone else for it) but he did expect something - whatever was good for me with no pressure to deliver or live out his dreams Think I just read him all wrong if it is true that the world talks toomuch then let us all keep quiet and hear the eloquence of silence - Richard Ntiru |
