We set the rules when we began friends, just friends and that was fine with me to fall in love was far from free and my pockets these days much too empty to afford a treat like you. I picked your brain and soaked up every bit of you I could in turn I gave you smiles we laughed, oh how we laughed we teased and flirted and it was all the more fun cause it was safe we were friends, just friends. I didn’t mean to, but I fell in love with you, my friend but we had set the rules before we began and we both knew that we never could I just needed you more than I should. You helped me grow past my dependence friends we remained and I don’t want that to end. I want to see you smile someday. When we both turn gray I still want to be your friend. I want to see your miracles come true. And if it’s possible in this life that is so unfair, that they might not…I want to be there for you, like you were for me. We are friends, just friends we set the rules before we began. |

Zoe, "Friends, just friends" is quite a comment... friends are never "just"....they are usually far, far more... enjoyed! |

This is so absolutely delightful, Doreen! Truly a wonderful tribute to a great relationship. You do the sweet, strong, painful with equally wondrous skill and passion. So enjoyed this! |

I'm sure glad I told you through email how much I love this poem... and how completely I relate to it... for after Sybil getting HELP in her name confusion, I can't quit laughing! LOL (psssst VAS... the waters are muddied enough without giving her still ANOTHER identity! LOL) Seriously, Sybil (and no, I couldn't resist... I tried. *G*) this is wonderful... The last verse is a prayer for us both. *S* (Note to Girl Scouts: Send cookies! LOL) [This message has been edited by suthern (edited 02-20-2001).] |

Wow, I enjoyed this very much, I sent it as a card to my dear friend. This very much says the words I have been unable to find so far for my friend. Well done. WhiteKnight |
