Still and Always Love Everything is so wild and spirited today on the mountain where I left you so long ago. White gloves decorate the ridges, cloaked and folded in soft slate clouds, pines rise and red berries dot the hedges. The river is cold and glinting with the silver slither of life, and on the ravaged tip of a tree a crow sits watching as slippery gilled and gasping we give reverence to life. The rocks along the road are the color of the flecks of your eyes and the mudded bank’s dark pools open and explode with the sound of riffles, oh, how you loved the sound. I think of you in frolic, or spread in snow making angels now, for always an invisible footprint leaves its meaning along the path here. Stay a moment, as my heart feels February like a hand print on this mountain. I have found you in June softened in yellow scotch broom and in August cool and smooth in the trunk of the manzanita. The crow with her knowing black eyes, is that your head cocking, your feather’s ruffled, waiting through this time of lasting? Fly my little one, be free from this need of mine that roots you to a mountain, for I will find you again, when time melts into tomorrow, I will find you still and always in the middle of my love. Martie, picturesque and full of emotion... I liked the last stanza... Fly my little one, be free from this need of mine that roots you to a mountain, for I will find you still when time melts into tomorrow, I will find you still and always in the middle of my love. I think of children and it's so hard to watch them grow up, to me what seems too soon. Bob <>< |

I have found you in June softened in yellow scotch broom and in August cool and smooth in the trunk of the manzanita." WONDERFUL VERSE, exploding imagery and vibriant colors, God, I wished I had written this!!!!!!!!!!!! "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." I feel them brush my cheek and my heart ... I hear them whisper to me... I hear them take flight on buttefly wings. not even the unbelieveably detailed--to perfection--imagery in the begining of this poem can touch the sheer beauty I see in those words quoted above.. this one touches places in my heart deep your "need" never holds her back... and she soars ever higher with your every word ...of her...for her... this poem is amazing Martie ... I wondered as I read it again and again... if you have any idea just how amazing. love you sweet poet me As sure as God made wine you can't wrap your arms around a memory In the dark for me youre the candle flame that flickers to life ~Mission UK~ |

I had to read this again, this one is so rich in specific meaningful imagery, Martie, this is one of the most visual poems I've read in a very long time! "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee |

Martie, elegant and simple. The imagery is perfection itself. write on Kethry. Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Patty Hansen. |

Oh, Martie, this is so beautifully written! You write of Michelle is such exquisite ways, and your imagery always amazes me. Thank you for writing me - I certainly WILL put it on Michelle's site, and with great honor. When you write of her, I always gain another peek into the wonderful child she was. And I'm always sorry again. So very sorry. Thank you for sharing your little daughter with us! . The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G. |

This poem, in its beauty, and its reason, should fly high, often. |

Martie~ To touch the memories of this child is a privilege to my heart. I will always think of Michelle's spirit on the mountain. Loveliest of lasting memories, dearest mother. *Hugs* ... so many *hugs* to you this day. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
