The Beholder You, who have looked into the eye of splendor, and have not responded with a radiance from the depths of your being, have not lived the day. For the beauty of nature speaks to you in exquisite ways and your eyes respond in joy and mirror the wonders they behold. Your dialogue with nature is not in words from your lips, but in the dancing of your spirit. Nature responds to you in the fragrances of the earth, in the songs of a gurgling brook and in the wings of an eagle soaring the open sky, casting a moving shadow across the valley of your contentment. When sun's falling beams illuminate an opal cloud and the last crimson rays of sunset cling to the mountain’s edge, your eyes allow them to drop beyond the horizon, and your spirit still dances, knowing they have slipped into your tomorrow Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 02-17-2001).] |

What a beautiful dancing poem to get up with this morning. Indeed good morning all day long into tomorrow OOPS! my screen is next to my big glass two doors looking outside at my neighbor's field of shinny green rye grass and a cooper's hawk just flew by so your poem, Miss Elizabeth, is fitting my moment [This message has been edited by monique (edited 02-17-2001).] |

Awesome imagery, Elizabeth - a joy to read. "and in the wings of an eagle soaring the open sky, casting a moving shadow across the valley of your soul." This sends a shiver of delight what a great view! Lary |

Good God! Elizabeth you do this to me all the time...this wonderful style from the depths of the composition of humanity...... "your dialogue with nature is not in words from your lips but in the dancing of your spirit." So very very true...it's all in how you it affects you and how you take the time to realize the beauty that so many miss......wonderful write Elizabeth! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

This is the most glorious piece I've read in a very long time....I'm speechless. "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee |

Liz, How absolutely stunning. I loved this especially: Your dialogue with nature is not in words from your lips, but in the dancing of your spirit. Nature responds to you in the fragrances of the earth, in the songs of a gurgling brook and in the wings of an eagle soaring the open sky, casting a moving shadow across the valley of your contentment. What an exquisite treat this one turned out to be but I knew it would be when I saw you name on it. There are no words to describe how I envy your talent for imagery but I also hope to one day come to the level in my poetry that you reach in everyone of them. As has been pointed out to you, this is a remarkable piece of free-verse and the language in it and the splendor of it's wisdom is outstanding. Well done!! |
