![]() 'Neath the Willow long ago in lesson taught in order not to break told to bend like the willow for sanity's sake hide the hurt well lest it not cast a spell nor to ever tell but fling your voice forth like a bell in summer O meet me again 'neath the willow tree lift me high again as a child of three lay in the shade and tell me a story Hans will do caress my mind one more time let me unwind for a time or two the grass is softer 'neath the tree the limbs speak and whisper to me your voice floats to the child of forty and nine and once again your words of time bend like the willow come to mind so it is as it is and I have bent in the wind stood in the sun to do it again have transpired the cold have lost my leaves for all of this I do not grieve for until the axe rents the air my roots go deep and I'll not compare nor despair of my place here, in the sun near the water's edge true, I cannot run tho stagnant I'll not be but I shall bend like the willow the tree that I be 02.17.01 Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Karilea* You brought me back to my childhood in this fantastic weave...there is a willow tree in the back yard of my parent's home...I remember how the bows would hang to the ground and running through them into my secret sancutary...I miss the feeling that I was completely invisible...though I'm sure I was noticed there...I never thought I was...sometimes we all need to feel like we can hide...finding comfort of alone... Whew....what a walk down memory lane...thank you! Your poetry always evokes something in me that I've tried to bury away...thank you for weaving it the way that you feel it~ |

"the grass is softer 'neath the tree the limbs speak and whisper to me your voice floats to the child of forty and nine and once again your words of time bend like the willow come to mind" What a wonderfully soothing and calming vision you've painted with these melodic words Karilea ... so beautifully picturesque ... I just loved this! ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

I feel the same as Butterflies, although I don't know why she would try to bury anything away because she is an excellent poet with such a love for the same...however. Karilea this is a wonderful comparison to yourself and from such a sage childhood lesson...well written...but, I have come to expect that from you. This nostalgia really works on me you know, that's why I write so many ballads...take care! I'm always looking forward to reading some of your very creative works...and, you don't seem to run dry...quite amazing! ethome The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

I love this poem...and the pictures it brought to my mind as I read it. I'm posting here one of my favorite songs, because I thought you would like to read the words to it. Your poem reminded me of this. Long Time Ago (Folk song-author unknown) On the lake where droop'd the willow Long time ago Where the rock threw back the billow Brighter than snow Dwelt a maid belov'd and cherish'd By high and low But with autumn leaf she perish'd Long time ago... Rock and tree and flowing water Long time ago Bird and bee and blossom taught her Love's spell to know While to my fond words she listen'd Murmuring low Tenderly her blue eyes glisten'd Long time ago... |

Oh my....look what sharing poetry does....takes folks down memory lane, allows them to share their feelings, causes gifts to be given.... poets amaze me....they give to live...and live to give.... thank you all! |
