Whistling Winds Through whispering pines the voices are heard The windswept twitter of a wintering bird Echoes of chill through the needley pine Are whistling winds and the howling of time Musical sounds of the sparkling white Are fantasy icicles chiming at night Through evergreen branches so briskly they slice The tingling music of wintry ice The wind brushes sparkly crystals of snow Crackling across window panes as they go There’s nothing to fear on a dark icy night For the winter plays musical songs of delight Crackley , tingly, whistling sweep The voices of winter will put you to sleep Elizabeth Santos |

I could imagine a clear icy night and the wind rattling the windowpanes (and at my house that happens easily, lol). Thanks for painting such a beautiful winter scene! |

Elizabeth~ I could just hug Karilea's neck for bumping this beauty ! (Hug)Karilea ! Lizzie ... you write the beauty of nature so that it is enjoyed by all. I can't imagine myself enjoying an icy winter - but you kept me warm in your rendition. Lovely imagery. Be warm, be happy ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

This is beautiful Liz..and though we DID get snow here in the desert this week, we don't often get the chance to go to sleep to the sounds of winter. May we use this in an upcoming issue of Digital Passions? |

Well I don't know how anyone could forget this poem. You know I love a poem filled with nature's imagery and this one is so refreshing and so beautifully done that it will stand up agaist the strongest of coldest of winds. If you find yourself stranded in a storm ...then reach for my hand and we will play in the puddles together |

I am going to try the pattern of two lines at the end, I have not done that and you do it soooo well... "I walked beside the evening sea and dreamed a dream that could not be." George William Curtis |
