"I LOST YOU IN A DREAM" by Bill Charles ~~~~ My eyes play tricks, not knowing what they see, for I thought it was you, standing always next to me… Close enough to touch, and to whisper in your ear, how happy I am to be near you, knowing that you care… I reached out to hold you, as I always did before, only this time my embrace, was something to deplore… I only felt the emptiness, where you should have been, and I was puzzled how this happened, let me try it once again… This time when I reached, the same thing did happen, you were no longer there, and I became even more forsaken… Emptiness and loneliness, became my very best friends, I could feel my torn heart, as if it were at all ends… My mind is saying, all is not what it seems, it's not real, so very perplexing for me, not knowing about this deal… My heart is tormented, and I can hear its pain scream, because somewhere within the anguish, "I Lost You In A Dream"… ~~~~ [This message has been edited by Bill Charles (edited 02-16-2001).] |

I loved the title! It drew me in to read the poem and I'm so glad I did. It's sadly lovely. |

Bill--If my heart could stand any more pain today, it would break for us both. (I've decided to take what's left of this day to wallow). Your words express your heart well. |

Bill, this is very well done, very evocative. The line between dream and reality can be quite blurred at times. In an ideal world, what we dream and what is real would be the same. Hope your real becomes all you have dreamed of some day. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

emptiness has become my mirrored partner... Emptiness Wondering as I sit viewing myself how much my face has changed in the last year. How the smiles that used to turn up at the corners of my lips have inverted to frowns, more often than not or even become a non-smile, a non-frown if there is such a thing... and how I hate that look of the deadened eyes that stare back now with empty tears. Sometimes I don't recognize myself and I try to welcome this face into my life, trying to make her feel warm and wanted again. Speaking silently with my eyes I almost plead for her friendship to help fill my emptiness... but even she denies me. And so another sun has risen another day begun, bringing with it hope. But as each afternoon and evening arrives that face rarely changes and silently I carry on as if tomorrow might be the day... (tears falling down my cheeks) This was so very sad, but also very beautiful, for your love shines through the clouds of melancholy. Fear not, you will find her outside of your dreams! You have such a beautiful heart, my friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Kit - I see that you are from Canada. I do love it there, and hope to return someday. But my sorrow is within. I thank you for your comments. Poet deVine - glad that the title caught your eye, it's alway nice to hear from you. Thanks for coming by, and the comments. JLR - if mine could also stand any more pain, we could get together and fill the desert with tears. Thank you for being so kind with your comments. kcsgrandma - thank you for your gracious comments about this writing. Dreams and reality can be blurred at times, but the hope is always there that the happy dream will become, that reality. Thanks for coming by. ethome - nice to see you, hope things are well with you. And I say to you, thank you for not only stopping for a read, but for your kind comments. Thanks again. |

nakdthoughts - thank you for the most meaningful words to me which you have written. I don't know what else to say except they are beautiful, and have touched me. Sunny - my most gracious friend, how are you? Your words, always ones of kindness, and I do thank you. rosepetals25 - perhaps it may not be possible to read your heart, but I have read many of your writings, and can tell that it is very gracious. I wish you well. snowpants - I'm glad that you liked what I wrote within this writing. And yes, quite an empty feeling it is. Mistletoe Angel - nice to see you. You are one of the most gracious persons that I have met here on Passions. Thank you for your most gracious comments, and also your deep sincerity. Aimster - thank you for the comment from your heart. I never thought that I wrote the way you said, "writing such sadness so beautifully". You did open my eyes to this, and I am grateful that you did. |

Love and loss and pain. And the confusion at times on what reality is or was and finding it not what we thought. I went through something so much like this, I cried for the rememberance, and for the emotion you've portrayed. It leaves you very fragile, doesn't it. My own experience left me wondering how love is really supposed to be. If something so beautiful can turn so painful, does it mean we're doing it wrong? I still wonder. I'm so glad I was browsing and found this. Beautiful, heartfelt, and deep. "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. Socrates |
