Tunneled Burrowing deep, have tunneled myself Recessed in a life with no ground. My field of dreams, an extreme narrowness With the hollow of echoing sound. Gloomy in thought, always a void In a never ending dark. Landscaped my life, in promises gone An emptiness leaving it's mark. With forces I've idled, for days at a time Digging and scraping my find. Hand over hand, the seconds tick by, Sweeping a covering of mind. My course of direction, clockwise in want But countered by objects unseen. Laboring hard, in suspension of time, I am tunneled, in distance, between. ~Wynter an exercise..in the use of the dictionary and thesaurus..starting off using only the word tunnel...(although I do feel this way, today...*s) "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

I relate to your poem. We set goals in life, thus putting pressure on ourselves to get there. When we realize that we haven't achive those things( most of them having to do with material things), depression kicks in. Self pity, doubt. Is not worth doing that to ourselves, is best to accept ourselves for who we are, not for what we've missed. Now, that's the hard part. I love your poem! |

Wynter, I write like this as well...take a word, get all my resource and reference books out....and scribble away.... exhilarating, isn't it? Where one word will lead us....we will either burrow deeper, or go toward the light... Well done my friend! |

ahh but walker, I am definitely not after the material so much anymore..the necessities inlife, yes..especially love... *s and Sunshine, I certainly had no idea where my tunneled feelings were going to lead me today..I have a slight( if you can call thenm that) migraine and coudln't write anything soft and sweet...thank you for the reply..and yes I use the dictionary and other references..but mostly when stuck or wanting to make sure I am using the correct meaning... today I just seemed so interested in the words that kept coming up on this gloomy rainy dismal day here..*s ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II [This message has been edited by nakdthoughts (edited 02-16-2001).] |

Your sadness comes through, in a very creative way. Take care, you know there is always light there, somewhere, at the tunnels end, or so they keep telling me. Sandra |

Cool idea! And I like what you did with it. Hope this morning finds you feeling better. And thanks for reading me again. It was a nice surprise to wake up to. (I can't seem to sleep in even on my first unemployed day off--Ha!) |

Wynter, I really enjoyed this - well-phrased, smooth flow - dark yet not depressing... top marks from me! Lary (So what's the next word on your list? *g*) |

Thank you, JLR...hope you are relaxing a bit huggzzzzzz *s Lary; just for you...I used the word sighing this time..and look where it got me..now you have to understand this is true..ok...I only write true experiences or my fantasies of the night..but always true in feeling *s hope you like... ~Wynter/Maureen The other morning I woke up choking probably on thoughts, worried kind. Or maybe I sighed just a bit too much and the air trapped my feelings behind. I grieve in my yearning, I mourn to express. I utter to send forth a sound. But all that was heard was a wheezing of sorts as the air inhaled, hardly was found. Eventually coughed after 3 tries or more and all that came out was some spit. For you see I have always salivated too much And this flaw is so hard to admit. I nightmare my death, and it always in scenes leaves a feeling of terror, no joke. I am sure that when death comes my headstone will read Maureen died from a slight Wynter Choke.... "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |
