No Masquerade

Ask me the hour
and I'd offer my silence,
question me about the day
and I'd have nothing to share.

Yet speak to me her name
and I'd come to light,
tender in recall of her scented hair
and the soft steps of my eyes along
her bare back.

In a dim and quiet room
naked and unashamed,
her thoughts passed through white cotton
in the calm of each breath upon my lap.

Those moments quickly sailing to hours
so simply done -- no masquerade.
We together alone in silent touch,
a brighter day could only seem fleeting.
Yet, this prelude to a wedding song
but a brief hello to the mornings ever to wake.

This IS beautiful...reminds me of a time, when just the sound of a certain someone's voice could clear all the clouds out of my mind's sky...and the joy would continue on into the night to light up the darkness! What an extraordinary love...sigh, sigh, sigh...
