Barefoot Days Virginia Salter Oh, those barefoot days days of trusting days of daring days of unknown vulnerability loved those days dusty, dirty paths rippling, slimy-stoned streams filled with playtime’s dreams sandy beaches hot and cold seaweed, shells toughened soles splat my steps in rhythmic march on dampened soil I’d dance my soul do you remember obstacle course of stones and bees? black-top heated to high degrees ‘adventures over hot coals’ we’d vie brave, so brave, though we might die imaginations carrying us to other lands other customs other sands common sense, as adults, our weakened soles did catapult in our daring, sense of free has shot holes in you and me © August 17. 2000 |

I so much identify with this piece, what we have to give up to become adults, sometimes I dont think its worth the price, I enjoyed this very much. Thank you. Regards, Olias. |

This brought back lots of memories of being as free as children are. |

Oh, I enjoyed this Virginia, it brought back memories of growing up in sight of southern comforts. Thanks for sharing! Robert Joseph |
