Crimson Chill Awaits Virginia Salter gray overtakes the eve moistening the air clinging heavily to all within this narrow world a semblance of autumn licks hard at leafy edge pulling orange and brown from green and yellow furls crimson waits within the wings of a stage built in the sand as starlight fades behind the clouds and I reach to grasp your hand though we say good-bye too soon to carefree long and warming days we will face the season’s change with its awesome wondrous ways as the warm succumbs to autumn’s frost and chill we will nuzzle close, embrace while our love grows stronger still © September 7, 2000 |
