. . . for my Father, on the 23rd anniversary of his passing from this plane to the next. . . hello, I know that we have this conversation every year and every year, I alaways seem to ask you the same questions are you proud of me? did I make the right decisions? what would you have done? of course, I'll never really know, but it's nice to ask you see, I tried to be someone that you could be proud of tried to remember the lessons that you taught and sure, I made mistakes, wrong decisions, we all do you did. . . or so I've been told and it wasn't that I was trying to emulate you because I couldn't be you, I could only be me carrying your name with me down life's road it's the one thing of yours that I can never lose it will always be with me it speaks to me so that when I ask the questions there are always answers. . . thanks Dad. . . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

From all that I know he would be more than proud of you. These expressions of the heart are typical of the depth of your love. This is a wonderful tribute! Write on! I'm sure he will enjoy reading your words! |

Sven, wonderful poem and yes...I agree with Doreen...my father died the day before my 13th birthday..and I don't think I knew him well at all...I was a kid who never thought that the future would be without him. Life is precious...and so is family...for those who read this and have a loved one you haven't talked to in a while, I urge you to pick up the phone and call..mend fences..make amends...reach out. Life is too short to hold grudges. |

AD Sven dear heart, would your father be proud of you I know for sure he would. You have an amazing capacity to write the depths of your soul, that is utterly truly wonderful, an absolutely beautiful example of your soul revealing your deep love of family. My daddy died when I was 5 well nearly 5 my birthday is in January and daddy died on Christmas Eve, well, actually Christmas Day because it was after midnight. These things happen and with all the love in our family he was remembered and missed but we all had to muddle through. Mam called Nana to come and give her a hand so there were eight females in the home. But we remembered him every Christmas and on fathers day we used to take flowers and talk to him to his grave. Well we were always talking to him, we used to ask him things all the time, and hope that he'd put the answer into our heads. And in the same way we used to celebrate his joi da vie, you seem to be able to do it too. Wonderful piece from you, absolutely wonderful, and your dad would say so too. I know me ![]() Thank you for this it is fabulous Take care love as always Mushy ![]() Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

Beautiful, Sven. This touched me deeply. Your ending was excellent, and so very true. There are always answers when we open our hearts to listening. And I have no doubts your father is so very proud of the man you are. Really glad you shared this one. To capture and live a moment is truly living |

carrying your name with me down life's road it's the one thing of yours that I can never lose it will always be with me it speaks to me so that when I ask the questions there are always answers. . . Sven, I don't know if you believe in fate or coincidence..today that is all I thought about..was my dad..and I was thinking about going to the prose site and telling my story about him using my poems sandwiched in...but I read the rules and it says absolutely no poems and I wanted it to be a continuing piece and some of my poems spoke better then my prose pieces...huggzzzzz and if you read my timing challenge answer you will see I was in that mood today and that poem released itself before I even agreed in my mind to try the challenge...I am rambling...I just feel the loss today too..and it isn't an anniversary..I just miss him... ~Wynter/M "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

I can't imagine the pain of loosing a father yet, and I hope that will be a long time coming. I can't imagine how you must feel at times, but this is a beautiful poem, and the fact that you remember him in your writing is awesome. ((HUGS)) ![]() |

Sven... you touched my heart with this...with the recent passing of my grandmother I have had that conversation, or said that prayer in hopes I have measured up to all she wanted me to be....I am still blessed to have my parents, but I just wanted you to know these words are beautiful and so touching....though my story is a little different then this we all ask the questions...be well and hugs to you..... ![]() Greeneyes~ *** "Within you I lose myself Without you I find myself Wanting to be lost again." -Unknown |

Sven how beautiful is this an absolute delight to read this it really is. So proud your father must feel, for how could he not, an utterly wonderful piece of writing that clearly demonstrates the level of your love for your father. I really love this one Love Melody :: But love me for love's sake, that evermore Thou mayst love on, through love's eternity Elizabeth Barrett Browning |

How beautiful and touching... I still have my Dad, but lost my mother long ago. They say I have her face... I just wonder why I couldn't have had more. |
