           Portrait of Good-bye

And so,
here we are, two strangers once again.
Standing face to face
the way we did the first time.
And now,
we are holding onto the last time,
as we say good-bye
and watch the chapter turn its final page,
and fade to black.

Maybe in another time,
in another place
it could have ended differently.
I wish you could have really known me,
...before you knew me.
I wish I could have told you the things
I can only write on paper.
I am not the fragile Cinderella
that you saw me as.
I am alot stronger than you know.

But for a time,
when all my dreams turned to blue
you were my great escape.
You brought out the best in me
when I thought I had nothing left to give
...to anyone.
You showed me that being in your arms
could rescue me from my lost horizon.
And in your eyes,
I saw beauty
...where before there was none.
Your gentle passion
quelled my aching fury.
Your laughter
gave me back my smile.

Maybe on some dark night,
when we're both in the shadows of the same moon
and you're alone in your mind,
you will remember me.
And perhaps,
for a moment
you'll long to feel the fire one more time
and you'll close your eyes
...and touch me again

And for me,
I won't look back.
Only when my arms remember the gentle secret
they once held,
...will the beauty remain.
And so,
we will walk away with nothing.
Only a surrealistic memory
of a portrait we painted only for each other
that no one will ever see,
...and we will never paint again.

Looking back can be very emotional and rough sometimes and you have painted a very vivid portrait with your words.  Wonderful read.  I especially liked the flow in this one.

...then reach for my hand and we will play in the puddles together

You lent your heart to the page, and it bespeaks well of your passion....in love, and in writing...

well done...
