(The Gaia Hypothesis deals with the theory that earth is alive. For info, try this site: http://www.oceansonline.com/gaiaho.htm It's fascinating!) Rape of Gaia We spit in her waters and blacken her skies; with ruthless abandon we scoff as she lies. In writhing pain. Erratically slashing her willowy skin, we drink from the nectar of secrets within. For willful gain. With blatant desire, hands careless and coarse, we strip off the gown from each fragile resource. Her soul we rob. Her agony crawls through each tendril and root; the tombstones of species sit barren and mute. As Gaia sobs. |

laryalee, Excellent! Like your style with this. Great topic, wish more would deal with it (and I should myself, except for the depression of it all). This sounds to me like only the start of a much longer work. Are you going to do more verses? Krawdad /:^)== =#== |

Thanks, Krawdad! I know there's a lot more to be said...like you say, it's somewhat depressing. I'll imagine something will stir me again along these lines *g*. I'm still getting lost around here - I saw a post of yours somewhere, now I can't find it! (I'll keep looking) Lary |

This is very powerful writing and the form and rhyme scheme you chose to present it gives it that much more impact. Wonderful writing.... |
