Lady Sea By Richard Maxfield 1-29-2001 As rain falls Cold wind whips at my flesh In the darkness I hear the bells of the buoys Waves are bad again Never ending restlessly tossing Lights from the shore Slowly fading into the darkness Smoke from the diesels Filling my nostrils Taste of salt On my lips once more Mist in my face I turn her into the wind She bucks the swells And moans in discontent It’s a three-hour run To my secret place Where once again I’ll try lady luck Catch my fill Head home a winner All to start again Before tomorrow breaks I ask myself why Saying I should quit But then my lady Sea Beckons me back Live like there is a tomorrow. |
