The Willow Princess Early April -- always finds me fighting the last bout of cool air across "Jesse's Point." Sloshing the last sip from the sterling flask you had engraved -- "now more than ever" I can't keep the lump from my throat. My recall never fades, yet tightens its grip each year -- I see you reaching for the line and then all is charred to black. Tumbled onto the point, "Willow Princess" her sails in shreds, her bow cracked, and me -- wounded and waking alone. These days, I hear the droning speech your father made the day we eyed "The Princess." His fear now leaves him without a daughter and me the target of his bitter seeds. If I could only sing to you again, hold you tightly on the crinkled leather couch as I breathe the fragrance of your hair -- I'd cast my remaining years into the sea, and not regret a single day. But, I know the waves are only friendly to the brave and you would have me to live and sail another day. Surviving on one thread, I stumble on -- shivering in the last whisper of you sighing my name. RJ~ This is absolutely lovely ... I don't often find myself groping for the proper thoughts - but this is one of those times ... Just know that I found it hauntingly portrayed ... ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Robert, "The Willow Princess" is a beautifully written expression of longing. But I am dying of curiosity...is this autobiographical, or just a haunting fiction? David2 |

This "just a bit of writing" is exceptional, drew me in from start to finish. Well done! To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

This is a very sad but moving story. The beauty of the written word that emerges from such a tragedy is always unexplainable...well done!! |
