Sunshine's title 'Searching...' Searching Again for You Virginia Salter Here I am again peering out the window at the blackness of night, the blankness of the hour. The darkness barely sprinkled with bits of light that bounce off the puddled street below dimly radiatiant lamps. The only movement- a few leaves that remain, flutter from the tiniest of breezes. No car, no pedestrian, not even an animal breaks the stillness, breaks the lonely sensation of the view before me. I turn, walk away again, for the fifth time this evening, wondering where you could be, how you could be so far from me. One end of the room, then the other, seeing that chair again, for the first time, since the last time, empty, overstuffed, but empty. Back again to the window peeling away the foreground, straining to see, stretching my vision to the horizon, still nothing, nothing more than my wanton expression staring back at me, from this side of the glass. Quickly, I look away unbearable to see the pathetic being staring back at me, with tear-stained cheeks, vacant gaze between mascara-striped lids. Surely I must decide to cease my waiting, my wailing; to cease my denial and know, you are no longer a part of us. Tomorrow, if you don’t come tonight. © December 2, 2000 |

How many times have I avoided windows for just this reason? Beautiful and sad write. "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." |

That last line just says it all...all the hope the yearning the desire for another chance...sadly beautiful write Ignore those who would clip your wings...fly ever upward...even if it means scorched wings |

Thank you Saxoness and Paula! You do my heart good. This poem isn't currently autobiographical, but it certainly could have been MANY times over, 15 to 30 years ago. I'm glad Sunshine's title inspired me to search these feelings from my history. It can be so healiing. Deep wounds must be healed from the inside out, while they are continually cleansed with soothing ointment. |

Virginia I found it...yes, soul-searching is good...I'm glad my little muse visited you, too...isn't she a little doll? Good job! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |
